This exotic flower may have been flown down from Arunachal for your lavish wedding’s pandal decoration. However buying only a bunch of it may burn a deep hole in others’ pocket.
600 species of this endangered flower are found in Arunachal alone, out of about 1,000 found in India. However, various ornamental orchids’ plants are sold in the Arunachali markets. Some of them called Draupadi-pushpa and Sita-pushpa are believed to be worn by the two legendary women. Orchids are under Schedule VI of the Wild Life Protection Act and its trade is regulated.
